I think if someone attempts to attack your wall protecting a capital or whatever, but does not win the battle the wall should still be there and not have to make it again

You know they're actually defence LINES?

A defence lines actually represents an area that two armies tightly defend, not a physical wall. So it doesn't "stand". Once the units have been routed, there are no units protecting that area so the enemy can pass unhindered without having to engage.

But yes, it should remain there if the opponent doesn't kill any of the units in the defence line. The fact the stacks combine just seems like a glitch to me.

He's basically saying:
If your opponent attacks a defence line but fails to kill any units, then the defence line should remain intact.
Yes or no? I think yes, it's a good idea, just a really badly phrased one.

Hey uh, not sure if this helps, but double-layering or garrisoning your walls can replicate this in a way. But yeah, if the units that make a D-line or "wall" win a battle, it should stand.
