Would you like to play atwar on a 3D globe? e.g Google Earth.

Note: You will still be able to play it on a flat map. It's just you have the option to put the world as a globe or a flat world in start up lobby. Also the map creators have the option to put their maps as both of them or just one.

To run the globe idea you would not need a fully upgraded gaming PC. Why would you? it does not make any sense.

By default the north and south poles are no-go areas, so this isn't possible.
Furthermore, you as a host can choose not to use the option. I give my support to the 3D globe since it would dramatically decrease the map anomalies in the far south and north(too large distances, etc etc)

To have as an option would be great. Whether it is possible I don't know and would definitely require much higher graphic processing capabilities for both atwar and users.

A Negative impact on unit range over polarised region's may solve that?

Most computers "in the day" ran Google Earth beautifully, so this in 2016 should not be a problem at all. I think this doesn't have to be something insanely fancy, just an alpha version at first to see if people would consider playing it.

I definitely think it is a good idea, on paper at least, would be interesting to see it in action.

I dont have a problem, when you can implement that
Then you should add an impact for (isy) deserts too

This should be interesting too

I think the real problem is the programming
changing from "cartesian coordinate system" to "spheric coordinate system" doesnt look easy

Most computers are running newer games at 60 fps just perfectly. I am sure that it wouldn't even come close to this.

I agree, this would not be easy by an means to implement, but would be something unique indeed, and would help set atWar apart (in a good way) from almost every other "risk/civilization like" game.

There's only one dev, and he shouldn't be wasting his time on something this hard to implement, it's cosmetic too.
The 2d map works just fine, just like with all other strategy games. Example: Paradox.

AtWar does not want to be like just like with all other strategy games. It needs something new & fresh.

To be a ''new and fresh'' strategy game of this kind, you have to go full-blown NATO emblems Paradox level

Wow....You don't need a gaming PC to run a sphere...Can you run Google Earth? If so u can run the idea. I have a 2009 Office computer & i can run Europa Universalis IV with minor lag. Although it can be annoying at some points but it's still playable.

This would be cool, especially that flat maps deceive what the world looks like apart from a globe. I support the idea but the coding would be long and hard. World map 2.0 took a while and its flat, so how long would a globe take to make and come out.
