Hi , this game was designed to make money As it is now.. we all earn upgrades by becomming a higher rank. We can by protocoins, so we can buy ranks. That said , higher ranks earn upgrades.. and theres were the big misstake lies. This i what actualy kills the game. The ranking system si totaly wrong. just be here all day doesnt make u the best. the idea of elo is nice but fuck elo , who gives a shit How it should be : Everyone starts with all upgrades, and when you get higher level , it must become HARDER, not EASIER (!) for you to win. So upgrades ... (your advantage) , should be taken away., and the game would be so much more competetive enjoy your weekend OLDSKOOL

To be fair, (imo) AtWar's rebranding for monetization features and accessibility were designed to capitalize on the emerging Grand Strategy genre in Semi-Peripheral countries and Europe especially. That being said, Upgrades and every feature given by the purchase of Premium membership and Protocoin upgrades are a part of this. In 2018 this feels odd, but given this game was designed during the mobile hype height in 2010 - 2013 when these sorts of various game-state altering microtransactions were common, its no wonder Afterwind functions the way that it does. I believe it became pretty clear last Autumn that this is the way things will be from now on with no focus on creating a balanced competitive environment in sight; Perhaps that's for the best. The Ranking system in Afterwind is largely cosmetic and non skill-based in nature. In comparison to a game like Overwatch: Your rank is the same as your level (IE, a metric utilized to visually display how long you've played and to be used as a rough, but not completely accurate, measure of your personal experience with the game) and your ELO is the same as your Comp Tier (IE, a metric enforced to visually display your personal experience with the game, but not necessarily how long you've played). In this game you're completely correct: Who gives a shit about ELO?. I agree with your thesis, and I will form a synthesis based on that: Eliminate Upgrades entirely. I do not however agree with your difficulty spike curve idea.

Hold up! Their are only a set amount of upgrades, half of them are useless if you play roleplay/scenario's. Since you said "fuck" elo I am guessing you play either of those. Also everybody starting with all of the upgrades is like a person winning the lottery. The only upgrades that are unlock able through premium are the general upgrades... but you don't have to be premium to get those either. They have all of this "power" [cash] But they don't know what to do with it, every time I bought a upgrade a door was opened to me and I earned that. You can also disable upgrades in games sooooo not a game given advantage. You can also set rank limits to your game to prevent all the high ranks from going in. Also, how would the game become harder and not easier for you to win? This is totally determined by your own skill in diplomacy, army management etc. And the skill of your enemy.

This is totally determined by your own skill in diplomacy" if a rank 14 has lost all upgrades , it would be more difficult for him to rank up because of that... and MORE FUN@ , MORE COMPETETIVE GAME the setup now is : hey , bring money buy your upgrades tru sp and were all gooood. the sp system shouldnt be based on killing units. this is how an honest sp rating system should work : lets say 7 players in game.. 1 x R14 1 x R10 2 x R9 3 x R7 R14 chips in 500 sp R10 chips in 300 sp R9 chips in 200.. etc. winner takes pot , losers get NOTHING losers loose... losers shouldnt get points never and it prevents sp farming but the game took months of programming so it will never chance. numbers are set. and this si why the game is failing. look in main. ist always empty i can never find a game i like to play so i keep making alts in beginners... , because i hate playing the same 4 ppl all day
