Here we define Secular as religiously neutral. eg. (A)Gnostic vis-a-vis Atheist, Agnostic, Theist, Pantheist, etc; religiously unaffiliated.

Here we take on the two of major religions. With the cultural decline in Europe and the ever increasing population rate of Islam adherents. I ask you, would you rather live in a Christian State or a Muslim State? Further defines aforementioned states as living according to faith-denominations and culture: Spain/Italy-Catholics, England-Protestant, Arab Nations-Shia/Sunni, etc.

If the pretext of religion will still continue to exist within the next century, which among the two where the world be better of?

But seriously, with our modern liberal perspective. Would you really want to live in a world where summer beaches are filled with burkas?

-No visible tan lines
-No sweaty beach volleyball chics
-No more cougars clawing on studs to smear em good
-No more twerking
-No more two-piece, one-piece, all time nudity
-No more red hair chic with an eyepatch and a clubfoot whom you really are drooling for

Good news is, you wont have to wait for an hour for your significant other to shop.

Living in an Islamic country doesnt mean you will be living with extremist. There are people like you and me. Extremist can be found in any religion or any country. Poeple really should learn how to stop mentioning in same sentence the word Islamic and extremist

The problem with revealed religions like Islam and Christianity is that it is subject to distortion by its own "followers" in order to conform to their own beliefs or comforts.

For example, the renowned Westbro Baptist Church are known for their intolerance of homosexuality, the bible is extremely contradictory, saying both homosexuality is wrong but that everyone are children under God. Other people dismiss entire verses completely, such as verses involving not eating shrimp, or wearing mixed fabrics, other Christians argue that verses that condone rape or slavery no longer apply with a changing age, or that "that's not what was meant to be said."

People seem to see radical groups like ISIS as being the norm for Muslims, so why don't Christians see groups like the early KKK as being the norm for themselves?

Religion is useful for a lot of things, specifically to inspire hope and to unify a people, but In an ideal world where we wouldn't need these things, religion would be scrapped.

For this, I do not vote as either option are just as bad as the other, both are revealed religions, altered by apathy and greed, and it will continue that way for as long as they exist.

Nobody fucking judge ISLAM because of ISIS. nobody cares about isis in europe. they do care about the polls in muslim countries that show all the so called "moderates" supporting isis in alot of issues. and they do associate muslims with the murder of 12 cartoon journalists in France who dared to write about their prophet inside European teritory. they also associate muslims with 60% of "peacefull non-extremist" muslim immigrants who say in the polls that they support punishment for blasphemy.

@ sheeba : christianity is not the same obviously, because its not part of the state and laws anymore and has no authority over the lifes of todays christians. kkk happened a long time ago, can you say the same for the only religion that still kills? i admire your effort for political corectness, especially since your a fascist, but you are wrong.

I agree with Khalessi in her (?) regards on Sheba. Least Christianity adheres to although not too often separation from the State; it holds influence yet does not pose as Caliphates of sort. Christianity altered it's teachings through the ages, quite leaning to the right. Same cannot be said for Islam.

What Islam today is what Islam before.

I too have no love for either religion albeit I hold an admiration. It's a hypothetical question to Seculars, least have your say.

You're comparing a region of 200 years of development and $20,000 per capita GDP with a region with 50 years of development and $4,000 per capita GDP. Of course Middle Eastern society is worse than European society. What else do you expect?

Wealthy (well, relatively wealthy) Malaysia is a Muslim country, and it's as enlightened as any Eastern European country. Societies, regardless of religion, become more enlightened when the money starts flowing.

The religious fundamentalism of the Middle East is not a sign of Islam as much as it is a sign of poverty. Note how (Christian) countries like Sweden or Canada suddenly became a lot less religious and a lot more open-minded almost as soon as they started being rich.

I miss your point in the first sentence. Someone said christianity and islam are the same and i pointed out the main difference. Then you used what i used a difference as your main point to argue that i should not have compared the two in the first place? i am confused.

Now if i understand correctly, we both agree that religiosity and wealth have a negative relationship and i would also add that religiosity and inequality have a positive relationship (have the study somewhere in bookmarks if needed). And we disagree on the causation and frankly we can not go about it without being guilty of confirmation bias, because the interpretation of the data can point two ways.

That being said i will argue my case using two points.

a.) education . Education as a general rule, is a foundation for innovation, technology and wealth. Religiosity and education, also show a negative relationship, so a negative relation to wealth is to be expected aswell, under these circumstances. It is notable that Jewish people have the highest levels of higher education and at the same time the highest levels of income as well. That is because it is in their culture and tradition, practices that only non-religious countries use. Like planned parenthood (less kids), higher education, encouraging Jewish women to work (double production, double income) and generally attend to the realization of practical real life goals and achievements, instead of the heavy emphasis for the afterlife, like in christianity and especially islam. I cant stress that especially enough. When someone murders 12 people, because he found their art untastefull, thats not to be taken lightly. Also when someone sacrifies his own earthly life (suicide bombers), after a promise of eternal peace in "heaven", theres something wrong there too and we cant ignore it, nor give it a pass, because the Middle East never had an industrial revolution.

b.) history. History has shown us that Europe during the "Dark ages", its most highly religious period, was not a shining example of prosperous and advanced civilization. It went through a period lasting lots of centuries of intellectual and monetary poverty, religious zealotry, daily public executions, zero medicinal advances, illiteracy and generally chaos and destruction. At the same time the Islamic world was flourishing, going through their "Golden Age", moving far from the doctrines of Allah to a prosperous world of science, technology, innovation, philosophy and arts.

Therein lies the main difference, for the Middle East after the 13th century gradually delved deep into the darkness of religion again and at the same time countries in Europe went through thr Rennaisance and the Enlightenment, distancing themselves from religion as the centuries passed. And ultimately with the industrial revolution organized religion the way we knew it gradually seized to exist. We have the luxury of watching this transformation, every step of the way. And secularization and distancing our societies from religion, is in my opinion the biggest contributor, to everything the West has achieved and everything the East havent.

To put it like Neil de grasse Tyson, the only black astrophysisist in the world "Think of all the thousand of minds lost, all the science never discovered, think of all the Einsteins that would have been"
