Polar Projection: Would you play it?

Hello all.

I currently have the primal ideas and background set up for a map, the question is: Which type of map projection? Now, like everyone else in the eternity of forever on AtWar, I would just use your average Mercator or Mollweide, but I figured a nice change of pace and perspective might be healthy and creative. With that being said, would YOU feel comfortable playing on a Polar Projection map? I've added a poll if you wish to chime in quickly, but I'd rather hear specific responses and feelings to the idea of a map being created in this particular projection. If Polar is rejected, I will most likely revert to Mercator instead, as a heads-up.

Maybe from my part. Reasons:

• Yes: for certain maps: Eurasia (+Africa) or Americas
  
• No for world map 'cause it distorts actual distances; it is a longer way from Brasil to Australia than Brasil to China, although China is about half the globe away from Brasil and Australia is closer.

This is a thread regarding making a map through a different projection, not a new style of maps in general. Please stay on-topic.

I would, though I agree with CD's point about a whole world map being problematic. Maybe half a hemisphere?
