Chiming in from the perspective of a new rank 5 player. I personally have no issue with there being rank limits on games, it makes sense to want to have competitive game without noobs interfering.
I think the point about low ranks not being able to play anything other than EU+ FFA, and random scenario games is severely limiting newer players from coming up and joining the "competitive end" of Atwar. The only solution I can think of is for more mid rank players maybe 5-8 create games in which they can play and learn. This is hard because if you dont set an upwards rank limit, some rank 9+ guys join, team up, and then crush everyone (because why not team with fellow high rank players when playing noobs?). However if you do set rank limits to something like 5-8 it is really hard to find players.

I agree with you, but trust me on this: the best way to learn is to get crushed by high ranks. Once you get used to playing high ranks you'll crush all similar ranks, and eventually higher and higher ranks.

Hey Tactician thanks for the response. Getting crushed by high ranking players does seem like the best way to learn, all of the duals I have lost I have learned far more than any I have won. (my favorite was Clovis having like 200+ attack on my capital on turn 2 while I had hardly even expanded)
That being said, the rank limit is still an issue here and I dont see a good way around it. Because new players like me learn the game best by playing with higher ups, and high ranking players are not going to want to have some rank 5-7 on their 3v3 team. Also most guides are geared to expansions and strategies with upgrades already purchased, so it is a slow process working out expansion without upgrades like "faster infantry" or higher "max transports". I have even thought about figuring out some good opening expansions and making a noobs guide to Atwar for like rank 6 and below.

That's the point, work out expansions for yourself.

It's selfish to think that people are going to sacrifice their joy time to teach someone else, and game after game do that.
Lot of ppl have premium, they can make game
