Just because a disease originated from your country does not mean you are liable. If that was the case, the USA should be held responsible for the swine flu.

That's not what this is. SARS started from Chinas wet markets and they didn't learn from their lessons. This virus came from Wet markets. Chinas has poor hygiene and health and safety regulations in their workplaces. China arrested and silenced Li Wenliang for 6 weeks, the doctor that warned his colleagues about a possible outbreak and tried to tell the world. China even arrested their citizens that were posting vids to the rest of the world (They have their own YouTube etc) to let the world know what was happening. This is not suggested or said with hate, but with the safety of the world and the Chinese people to never let this happen...a third time. China is responsible for this Virus. I will not call it "The Chinese virus" as I see a few others do, mainly to blame and point the finger with a mean attitude towards China. I am not pointing or blaming. I am saying historical fact, all of that happened a few months ago in China. People will be learning about this in a few years in school. In some way or another, I believe that China should be sanctioned or demoted in the UN.(Imo I don't think a dictatorship government that has control over 1bill people and uses censorship towards their citizens should be at the top of anything about the organisation of "United Nations" and everything that it's meant to represent anyway) Their health and safety/hygiene measures in their workplaces and their food industry should be looked at like a hawk by the UN. This is second time a virus has come out of China in the 21st century from the same resons, they reacted the same too in 03, arresting their citizens that tried to show the world and did, (This is historical fact) withold information about how many people are infected with the virus, SARS to the international community. And then in 19/20 they did the same, even a lot worse, taken they wasted 6 weeks by silencing the doctor. In regards to them not telling the truth about their confirmed cases around Dec, Jan and Feb. I don't have data to prove they did, no one does. So I won't hold that against them. I don't hate China, I think they should be sanctioned in some way or another for this however. Thier actions should be treated as an international crime. The Chinese people shouldn't be led accountable, the CCP should.

Put sanctions on them? America already has sanctions on China which backfired and crushed the farming industry. Pull all western companies back? Who else could america exploit for slave labor, assuming the united states would lower its standard of living to create there own goods. Pay the world back with interest? China Owns 1.3 trillion in american debt, meaning you can just rewrite off the debt and call it even.

I'm not saying that or suggesting that type of attitude towards this event. Personally I think they should have good heatlh and hygiene regulations and get rid of the wet markets, they didn't do it the first time. I do think the UN should confront the CCP on them issues and request/tell them to do it That's not punishment, thats diplomacy at its best

Why remove wet markets from china only? Why not also remove the wet markets located in South America, Africa, and India?

China already acted and banned the markets that cause this kind of virus, so i don't think anything too hard is necessary

You do know poor countries can't develop as fast as your thinking, wet markets are highly used in those countries. You probably dont know what it's like in a poor country.

I'm aware of the difficulties in many African nations, yes I'm baffled. Diplomacy is good. Countries talking is good. Helping other countries is good. Hygiene regulations and food hygiene is vital. Wet markets are bad for obvious reasons. Trying to get rid of them for something more safe and better is good. Especially when the UN is there. I feel like I'm the only person in this thread that has these views.

This issue sparked an interest in me. I don't know if you can blame the Chinese people for this. China will probably try to hide the real causes or the 0 pacient. Some days ago I've seen that they try to put the blame on an American athlete. However, if their numbers are real and they managed to control the spread of the virus, oh boy, this is big. Look at the effects the virus has on Europe. Spain and Italy are hammered by it and to make matters worse, France and Germany don't help them at their full capacity. I'm afraid of a rift in the already fragile Union. As we speak, the US is the country with the most cases and the virus has the potential of affecting this megacountry in a very very serious way. Either economy can go down or the death toll can sky rocket or both. In conclusion it looks like China is the winner here (in the grand geopolitical scheme).
