I feel obliged to answer this one. Well see, it is because the game is pay to win in some ways. General and premium strategies give a massive advantage over non premium players. Having a premium vs non premium fight usually unbalances the game, atleast that front in particular. Therefor people sometimes kick non premiums. Not having the full highrank upgrade list is another thing that factors in. I'm sorry you experienced kicking on that basis but it's how it is.

Try garnering a network of friends to vouch for your skills and a reputation as a decent player who can handle himself without the advantages premium provides and it should fix itself. Otherwise.. you can buy premium.

Sadly yes. its worse in competitive play too because of the bonus that general gives + premium strategies. scenario community has seemed more forgiving tho

ITT free players are given visual proof that they aren't wanted, thus turning away new revenue

You want a general and additional strategies? You want to unlock further medals (additional SP for upgrades, etc.)? You want to create maps and scenarios (whenever it works properly)? Just pay for it and its fine.
Are there downsides? Sure, Prem > NonPrem.

Some people might not decide it's worth it until having enough experience to get to r5 or r6 in order to make the decision. In such cases, they would have had at least 1, 2, or 3 gold medals by then.

I don't do that on my games, but then, I rarely host scenarios (and never RPs). It is in scenarios and RPs that the imbalance of upgrades plus General overpowers the careful design.
