Battle of Nola
Argentus Cassius (Envelopment) Tactical Counter!
(8 Legions +4 veterans+ 3 command)=19 strength
Hasdrubal (Direct Charge)
16 armies +3 command =19 strength
Battle Roll: 14+3=17
Result: Victory

The battle started with the Roman left flank charging the Carthaginian right, followed a little later by the advance of the Roman center. The outnumbered Carthaginian cavalry tumbled against the Roman cavalry. The Carthaginian right wing and center held their ground and the war elephants succeeded in breaking the Roman lines and spreading mass confusion.

Argentus Cassius, on the Roman right flank, struggled to overcome the terrain that blocked his path to the unwary Gauls on Hasdrubal's left. Seeing the futility in wasting further time attempting to reach the inert Gauls, he instead took half of his men in cohorts and led them from behind the battling Roman lines to the extreme Roman left, swinging his troops around and crashing into the Carthaginian right flank with sudden force and intensity. The Carthaginian right wing, composed of Hispanics, could not withstand this two pronged attack of Proclus Manlius from the front and Argentus Cassius on their flank. They were forced to fall back, taking the Ligures in the Carthaginian center with them. The elephants were running amok, killing Romans and Carthaginians alike. Hasdrubal fought alongside his men and exhorted them to keep fighting, rallying fleeing soldiers and re-starting the battle wherever he was present.

The Gauls on the Carthaginian left now faced a three pronged attack: Lucius Flaminius from the front, Proclus Manlius from their right flank, and Argentus Cassius from the rear. By now, the Roman cavalry had completely defeated the Carthaginian cavalry and, with the retreat of the Carthaginian left wing, a general retreat of Hasdrubal's army started. Six of the elephants were killed by their own drivers to stop their rampages and the remaining four captured by the Romans.

Hasdrubal, seeing that there was nothing more he could do, and presumably doubtful of his own prospects of escape or simply unwilling to be taken captive, charged into the Roman ranks on his horse along with his remnant Hispanic guards and was killed.

The Carthaginian Senate signs a humiliating peace ceding everything except their possessions in Africa with their main army being utterly destroyed.

Battle of Lissus
Lucius Aemilius Paullus (Flanking) Tactical Counter!
(2 Prov Legions+ 5 Legions +2 veterans+ 5 command)=16 strength
Philip V (Envelopment)
10 armies +6 command =16 strength
Battle Roll: 14=17
Result: Stalemate

The illyrian tribes largely abandon the romans when the Macedonians arrive, forcing Paullus to garrison the strategic city of Lissus blocking the main invasion route without aid. Philip orders it enveloped and awaits certain victory. Months pass and the garrison begins to starve and die. However, Paullus had hidden a flanking force in the hills above the city with the one friendly chieftain. When the Macedonians had completed much of their siege works, including formidable towers and metal rams Paullus ordered an attack on Philips camp and gained complete surprise burning and breaking all their progress. Exasperated by yet another failed siege Philip withdraws again angry, however his mood soon brightens as one of his Hetairoi drags none other than the young bloody roman commander, Lucius Aemilius Paullus before him. Philip treats him kindly as an honored captive although Demetrius advises the Macedonian King to put him to death at once claiming that he will bring doom upon his Kingdom one day (and likely out of animosity for Hostus Aemilius Dalmaticus, the young mans relative who deposed him). This he does not do and Lucius is brought back to Pella.

Cato was a Roman's Roman. As his fleet sailed eastward they paused at Korkyra where he even refused to leave his ship to be infected by "degenerate" Hellenistic influences.

The Romans finally find the bulk of the pirate fleet in a Cretan bay. A mixture of Cato's notorious temper at his subordinates failing to follow his simple orders and the lackluster roman fleet let to pirates almost defeating them. Cato was able to withdraw to Rhodes for the time being and lick his wounds.

Siege of Pharos
Hostus Aemilius (Direct Charge)
(2 Legions +3 veterans+ 4 command)=12 strength
Demetrius (Balanced)
4 strength
Battle Roll: 11+8=19
Result: Decisive Victory

Having decided that Dimallum was crucial to Demetrius' power in the region, the consul prepared to besiege the city, but was able to take it by direct assault within seven days and went to Pharos. As a result, all the Illyrian towns and cities of the area submitted to Roman protection, each receiving the appropriate terms and conditions. Next, the Romans moved against Demetrius on the island of Pharos, who awaited the attack with good troops, ample provisions and war materials behind strong fortifications, that of the city of Issa at modern Stari Grad. To avoid a long siege, Aemilius decided to risk another frontal attack. The Roman army moved from the mainland to a wooded area of the island. Meanwhile, the next day, a small force of ships was sent out to tempt Demetrius from behind his fortifications. Demetrius marched down to the harbor to oppose the Roman landing. The strategy worked, and when the main Roman army appeared from another direction on the island, the Illyrian army was forced to give battle, as they were cut off from their city. Attacked on two sides, and cut off from the protection of the city walls, the battle was lost. The Illyrian forces soon surrendered, while Demetrius deserted the island and fled to Macedonia, making his way to the court of Philip V of Macedon

Continuing onwards to Emporion, another friendly greek state Aelius. . Seeing the grip of the Carthaginians on the newly conquered Iberian tribes loosening because of the activities of Aelius Mago decides to offer battle. There were no brilliant manoeuvres or ambushes, the armies formed up and faced off. Although Aelius' led his forces strong on the right flank his left became encircled and many of the newer legions lost their nerve abandoning Legio I Compromisarii to be destroyed. Roman reserves swiftly plug the gap and Mago is unable to pursue his advantage without more forces and falls back to the Ebro

Suprius Valerius will try to persuade Marcus Porcius Cato "The Wise" using Seduction and 18 bribes
(Marcus Porcius Cato "The Wise" has 10 loyalty, +7 from being in faction, + 4 wealth, no one can add anything to it, so 21, Suprius Valerius has 10 Influence and 2 Oratory, adding 18 bribes maes it 30, 9 or less on dice roll and i get it) a note: if it happens that cato has other than 4 welath, then i bribe like this, 18-4+cato's wealth, i.e if he has only 3 talents then 18-4+3= 17, 2 is 16 and so on, and same if he has more than 4.
put 1 on equite for Argentus Cassius, any left overs will go to the bank

To explain the card he is using is Seduction which means Concinnatores cannot counter bribe this persuasion. Cato's wife is in love with Argentus Cassius and is basically on his side.

Siege of Appollonia
Lucius Flaminius (envelopment)
(12 Legions +2 tribes +6 veterans+ 4 command)=30 strength
Philip V (surprise attack)
22 strength
Battle Roll: 10+8+3-1=20
Result: Decisive Victory

Philip took the imitative and put, Apollonia under a surprise siege, a city recently pledging loyalty to Drusus. Flaminius took 3000 men, to the mouth of the river. Avoiding Philip's army, Flaminius, was able to enter the city by night unobserved. The following night, catching Philip's forces by surprise, he attacked and routed their camp. Escaping to his ships in the river, Philip made his way over the mountains and back to Macedonia, having burned his fleet and leaving behind many thousands of his men that had died or been taken prisoner, along with all of his armies' possessions which were looted by the romans and their barbarian allies.

This very short and small battle is nonetheless enough for the Greeks to doubt Philip's abilities and return to their general scheming ways as Flaminius has offered to do nothing more and return to italy, merely seeing the Macedonian empire fracture is good enough for now with the Carthaginians on italian soil...

Battle of Arretium

(2 Legions +3 veterans+ 8 command)=18 strength
Concolitanus & Aneroëstes
(10-4 Armies from deserting Allies) = 6 strength
Battle Roll: 9+12=21
Result: Decisive Victory

Scipio encamps near Arretium blocking the gallic advance southwards. Unwilling to engage them without proper intel he waits while the gauls ravage the nearby villages and farmlands. A Gallic defector confirmed his suspicions, the Gauls were not attacking because they could not agree who was in charge. Scipio sent roman agents to promise treaties of mercy to the tribes who would abandon this war, and largely he succeeds, the Boii defect the next morning. After they do, he orders Fabius to launch an assault on their camp. They march out to meet him in a furious charge which buckles his line. While their attention is distracted, Scipio leads the veteran legions around their flanks and overcomes their depleted cavalry. The brave Gaesatae fight to the end surrounded, even after Scipio offers them their lives (as slaves). Scipio and Fabius return to Rome in Triumph!

Siege of Scodra
Drusus Claudius
(5 Legions + 1 veteran+ 2 command)=9 strength
Queen Teuta
(5 Armies-4 Armies from deserting Allies) = 1 strength
Battle Roll: 9+8=17
Result: Victory

Drusus, more of a politician than a general, has begun to court the local illyrian nobles and promised them friendship with Rome, where they would maintain their position, and in fact gain their independence. Was it really worth their peoples lives, or more importantly, their wealth to keep the pirate Queen Teuta on her throne? To most, the answer was no. These half truths of Drusus bore fruit as his glorious procession arrived to walls of Scodra where the Queen and her loyal Ardiaei tribes held the walls alone. Putting it to siege, Drusus let his more experienced Centurions deal with the details. Its fall was inevitable, a pointless resistance to Roman might. The trenches drew closer, the tunnels bore under the walls and roman cohorts swarmed into the city, sacking it completely and putting the warriors to the sword and the civilians in chains. Legionnaires drag the stripped queen before Drusus and he generously allows her to continue her reign but restricted her to a narrow region around the now smoking Scodra, deprived her of all her other holdings, and forbade her to sail an armed ship south of Lissus. He also requires her to pay an annual tribute and to acknowledge the final authority of Rome.

Battle of Ephesus

(6+5 Armies) = 11 strength
Battle Roll: 8+7=15
Result: Victory

Relieving the siege of Pergamon, Gaius Julius presents himself to Attalus and coordinates with his forces to march southwards.
The battle itself was hard fought, with Antiochus charging straight through the rom left seeking out Gaius Julius himself but unable to come to grasps with the Consul. On the roman left, javelin armed soldiers brought down mighty elephants causing a collapse of that part of the line and allowing the more mobile principes to flank the phalanx. In the end, Antiochus ordered a retreat to save the core of his forces.
This defeat has however shattered the prestige of the Seleucid state and Antiochus has agreed to never interfere beyond the Taurus mountains again, and has sent a vast amount of talents to Rome in compensation.

Epidamnos was received into Roman protection by Consul Claudius and the army now moved inland among the Illyrian peoples of the hinterland. Here, the Romans received delegations from many peoples, including the Atintani and Parthini, from whom a formal surrender was accepted. At sea, the blockade of Issa was raised and the city also received Roman protection. As the Romans approached the Illyrian heartlands near the Bay of Kotor, opposition stiffened. Here a large force loyal to Teuta harassed the romans from the heights and did hit and run attacks on their legions, who are now scattered trying to protect loyal tribes against the Queen. Losses are mounting, and reinforcements are soon needed....
