This is an incredible map just for the strategy. Really well done, I love a good 4 way combat. Just a few things:

- Change starting cash to 5k, I never ran out of cash the entire game.
- I can't find anywhere to build the shield generator in the units. Is this coming later?
- As this is a light background, I'd change the labels to transparent black; they're rather hard to see.
- Make air units (specifically shortsword) a little stronger; at the moment, air fields are only good for building transports.

Overall, great job! Can't wait to figure out the strategy in this map.

If you're all having technical issues, we can extend the deadline for the first round by a few days to get it worked out. Please at least try to play your matches though.

I hate to necro this topic but ally spamming is still a serious problem that really makes some games unfun. This is from an Imperial Era game:



I don't blame it on the scenario, as the scenario is actually quite balanced. But notice that high ranked players playing the stronger countries like Britain, Russia, and Spain are just ruining the entire point of the game. You can guess who won that. I want to reiterate that I don't want to ban alliances; as you can see, I allied my friend on the other side of the world because he's my friend. It's just insane when strong and decent players ally everyone except one person. That game would have been made very much fun if we had the option to make it, say, max 2 alliances.

Also, on the above discussion, I don't really care about SP, or if ally spammers get less SP in the long run. I care about having a fun game.

I was just thinking that there's no custom map being used for 1v1s. It's unlikely that CWs will move to custom maps, as everyone's used to Europe+ and CWs are more serious, but 1v1s are a little more casual and I think having a good 1v1 map would make things interesting.

GC without its HP bonus is useless now; you're better off just using PD or TG, as they're more cost effective.

LB sucks. Never use it. For a short period of time, it was good, but then I had to go an post an article on why crits were too OP (after buying all the Lucky upgrades) and convinced the admins to nerf crits hard. LB was actually created as a joke strat; used to cost 40k SP.

I'd like to suggest The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (anime time travel romance), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe, Stargate (sci-fi mythological thriller), The Ring, and Hotel Rwanda (historical drama). I've found all of these for free on Youtube.

This is a great idea, definitely support. However, I don't think we should have set units that we have to use. You could have something like 3k starting cash and 30 units, and you could build whatever you want.

Just need 2 more players. LDK, can you continue cohosting, or should I put the bracket in my own post?

We have two options for how to play the game:

1. This one is better, but it's a little complicated. Go to http://www.geewa.com/checkers, and click 'Play with a friend'. It would be ideal if you had an account on Geewa, but it's not required. Once there, there is an invitation link that will link you directly to Facebook. Do not use this link if your opponent has no Facebook. The invitation link will look like this: http://apps.facebook.com/live-games/checkers?invite=*******&from=fb-invite, where the *s are alphanumerics. Copy and paste ******* into http://www.geewa.com/checkers#invite=*******&fs=1 and it should take you directly to the game.

WARNING: Kings in this game are OP. They can move infinitely in any direction and can jump as far as they want.

2. Go to http://www.nabiscoworld.com/Games/game_large.aspx?gameid=10037 and create a private game with a password. Send your opponent the game name and password and you can get started.

Rules:
1. Must post a screenshot of you winning. If, after the 1st game, the loser wants best 2 out of 3, then this should be done. However, the finals should be just one game.
2. For option 1, kicking the other player out because of inactivity is not acceptable. If the other player never comes back after a crazy amount of time, post a screenshot. If the other player wants to defend himself, well... pics or it didn't happen.
3. Impostors will be crushed with meteors.

As I have done nothing to promote the game except getting an IRL friend to join (who promptly quit after a week), I see no reason for me to deserve the title as it is now. The status of Elite is given for posting in the promotional pages that you will help out with promoting the game. The status that you seem to be suggesting is already in place as Player of the Month, which I have already received and have nominated utahrapter3 for.

I nominate Aristosseur for OP levels of bug reports.

Seeing as I was the one to keep openly criticising the POTM process for being what I saw as random and not open to suggestions, I'm opening this thread to nominate people for POTM and POTY, if that's alright with the mods (and if it doesn't start a flame war). I'm assuming mods are ineligible to receive POTM. Naturally, my own nominations will have a bit of bias, but here they are anyway:

ezzatam for reasons stated in the awards ceremony. He translated the entire frickin map into Chinese, made 14 maps for the sole purpose of helping the community, cracked the Math behind the default map to create a new version of it, is a huge supporter of custom maps, has a fairly clean record among the community, and is in general very dedicated to AW.

utahrapter3 for having a clean record, bug reporting, and of course, his scenarios and maps which he has both created alone and collaborated to make.

I feel like with the release of atWar, the POTM really should have to do with atWar, and the above two players have contributed most (excepting people who've already received the award) to the game in the past month.

For POTY, I nominate LDK. Now lots of you are going to say that this is just because of ATN, which I happen to be a part of. Look further back in the year. Anyone remember the epic 2v2 tournament back in the Spring? Anyone remember Art of War? Anyone remember him being a generally nice guy throughout? I think for helping low ranks and other people out, organising tournaments, having a good reputation among the community, being influential in the coalition and starting ATN which advertises premium, reports on clans, and promotes custom maps and scenarios, LDK should receive the POTY award.

And please, don't start a flame war by putting other nominations down. In the end, hating on people will do nothing, as it's up to the mods.

you mod's puppet. mods hate me, therefore i will never get a award.

Honestly not sure if you're joking around or being serious. Note that I actually searched for people who the mods and admins didn't even know about (perrydepwner has like no posts and doesn't advertise, Primal isn't active on the forum and his map was unrecognised), and even gave an award to Utah, whose Ultimate Europe was disliked by the admins and mods. Fact is, with all due respect, I don't care about what or who the mods and admins like. I give equal respect to every opinion when I'm interviewing, consult with ATN, and ultimately the decision comes down to what I think of the quality of the map.

And weren't we talking about Kronos? I like Kronos, but he didn't get an award. However, you're moving farther down the scale of people I like, and (perhaps unfortunately) I'll have to give equal consideration to even your maps. If you spend more time improving your map than bashing the person who gives the award, maybe you'll get one.

Fraud! where is un game? top played scenario in afterwind history lol

Most played is not necessarily equal to quality; I hate to hate on Che, but True World War II has sucked for a rather long time. It's too accurate, it's too good of a WW2 scenario to be at all balanced. Colonial Empires sucks too for the same reason.

But that's beside the point; UN was not, at the time of choosing awards, a custom map. It was just a normal map, and as much as I would have liked to give awards to people like deviL for his WW2, I was instructed to review custom maps and scenarios. However, UN will be considered next month as it is now a custom map.

Please read over the parameters before you call me a 'fraud'.
