Ah, good idea. Of course, as I said, you could have a box where the creator could decide if the unit is affected by strats or not, so you wouldn't have strats like Blitzkrieg or Naval Commander messing up the custom units.

I read a lot of really old topics, haha. Well after the "afterwind.com/forum/xxxx -> atwar-game.com/forum/xxxx" thing was resolved, I was noticing that some links still don't work. Messed around with the URLs and found that links beginning with www., i.e.

Simple fix I assume, just kind of annoying.

^ Title. What bonuses do commanders give when you check the 'commander' box in the unit editor? (Or when you create a unit whose type is commander). It's never really clear...

As cherse stated in his topic in the Questions forum, strategies only affect default unit categories. This makes things a little ridiculous in scenarios where the only default units are, say, infs and militia, and the only strategy that makes sense is PD. If strategies affected custom units more, the difference between strats would be more noticeable, especially in maps that add many more naval units, air units, commanders, or ground transports. Below are my suggestions for how strategies should affect units.

But before I jump in, I also think there should be a check box that asks whether you want a unit to be affected by strats. For example, in EC's Ancient World (and a few other maps) there is an incredibly expensive immovable wall you can build. However, when you use Blitzkrieg, you can actually walk the wall around which is completely illogical. This is the sort of unit you don't want to be affected by strats.

Ground Secondary Attack: +1 attack, -3 defence
Ground Special Attack: +1 attack, -3 defence

Guerrilla Warfare:
Ground Transport: +150 cost, -2 range

^ This. Doing the income like that makes for a fairly playable map. Now to get the 'GDP' for each individual city, you can do what the admins did. They looked on Wikipedia for the GDP for a whole country, then divided the population of the city by the population of the country and multiplied by the country's GDP. So for example:

GDP of USA= 15 Trillion
Population of USA= 311 Million
Population of New York = 8 Million
New York / USA = 2.57%
GDP of New York = 385.5 Billion

At which point you can scale as shown in Runway's topic. If you give me a list of all the cities you want 'GDP' for and what you want the highest income of a city to be, I could probably help you calculate the incomes. The highest income in the default map, Tokyo, is 559. New York is 365.

On the contrary, I was asking for votes for LDK. Also asking people to vote in general; voting was pretty slow early on. Also never asked people to vote for me in PR, not sure who told you I did. Most of the time I'd contact a friend to ask about something else and they responded with [pr] XXX: i voted for u btw. and I felt kinda awkward, lol.

I was planning on posting all the comments, but i'm not sure if players want it to be anonymous. Maybe i will read trough them once, make them anonymous and publish them if there is interest for it.

It has occurred to me that the majority of the posts on this forum are glaringly off topic. How long does your general usually last? In a world game I often put it in a giant inf stack only for it to be destroyed by a giant bomb stack on turns 10-20.

We are so lucky hdrakon isn't a troll anymore. I think it'd be more useful if we could just stop trolls and spammers then and there instead of waiting for the mods to come online and ban another alt account. There's almost always an elite player online when a mod isn't. I think idiots spamming help channel is a little more serious than global/room chat spam.

Much of the time a mod is not online. I propose we allow elite players (the guys with the little dot) to mute players off the help channel if they are trolling. If they misuse this function, they lose it, obviously.

They should add it but have a voting to end game. EX:500 turns is the limit but the game will go past it after that players can vote to end the game.

This is actually a pretty good idea. If the players don't want the game to end yet, it doesn't have to. Support.

Alaric King will not be able to play his matches. A different person signed up for the tourney than the person who is currently using the account. Utah gets an auto win in this case, unless someone wants to sign up for reserve.

I understand what you are trying to say but my concern was that if you have noticed the audience that AW has managed to attract, it mainly consists of minors and I'm going to be stereotypical here but minors may lack the knowledge to deduce these simple things.

With that argument you have lost most of your credibility in this discussion. I think what you don't get is that 'minors' (with the exception of Gardevoir) don't learn how to behave from an online game, nor do they idolise and imitate people online with a shiny medal in their profile. "May lack the knowledge to deduce these simple things"? Really? I think most 'minors' don't give a crap about who wins this in he grand scheme of things. If you're really worried about the children, then let's go ahead and ban all of SRB and anyone else who chooses to swear, troll, or insult anyone in this game.

I think I know what's going on here with everyone. In regards to cherse, I think he made a custom map in which either Norway is water or a sea transport functions as an air transport. Custom maps let us pull sooooo many stunts.

As to the OP, I think what's happening is that bug introduced with the merge where placing a unit extremely close to another unit or a city makes it go in. For example, walling Istanbul often results in 2 units combining, creating an ineffective 2-1 wall next to the city. Or putting a unit very near another makes it attack. This bug only started happening with alpha custom maps and really needs to be taken care of.

Your enemy probably placed his army as close as possible to the middle of one side of your wall and broke the wall with a few bombers. The game engine then saw the army as so close to the city that it must attack, taking the city. This is entirely speculation of course; I'll test it out later on. Either way, the aforementioned bug needs to be fixed.

I believe what he's saying is that, for example, every state in the USA would all show as being part of the country 'USA', and they would all go under the huge label 'USA', although each state would technically remain separate and there would really be 50 USAs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I see this as low priority, to be honest. You could just blow up the label of one state and disable the label for everything else.

USAN is massively underpowered compared to AU and FRCA. I can't count how many times I've seen it die in horrible horrible ways. It just doesn't have enough reinforcements to keep up; Mexico's reinfs are all extremely concentrated, as are Africa's in West Africa. It also has a horrid economy compared to everyone else as it just has 3 oil fields. Please balance.
